The Ritz-Carlton KL @ Li Yen Chinese Restaurant Private Dining Experience

Ahh......The Ritz-Carlton KL, the name brings back sweet memories. I remember the time I stepped into the hotel on a mooncake hunt with fellow blogger and dear friend, Quachee. We were on a mission to savour the best mooncakes in town and our journey brought us to The Westin KL, JW Marriott KL and lastly, The Ritz-Carlton KL at the famous Bukit Bintang area. I'll blog about that in another post when I have the time. Gosh, I have yet to blog about my previous endeavours!

Simply heavenly were the delectable mooncakes

Today's post is about my dining experience at Li Yen, the hotel's award-winning signature restaurant that features Cantonese specialities with sumptuous dim sum for lunch and a la carte selections for dinner. I was one of the ten special guests of the famous anonymous blogger, Panda Foongpc to dine with him in a private setting courtesy of The Ritz-Carlton KL. Woohoo.....long live Panda!! You're the best!

The magnificent Li Yen Chinese Restaurant

I was the first to arrive at the venue after spending the day sight-seeing and shopping at Starhill Gallery, Fahrenheit 88 and Pavilion, KL. The rest of the guests namely Mei Yee, Lionel, Caroline, Eric, Richard, Daniel, Quachee and Grey arrived shortly thereafter and we had a great time catching up with each other over a pleasant, sumptuous dinner.

The exquisite interior decoration of our private dining room

The beautifully elaborated table setting and assorted condiments

1# Peking duck served with steamed sesame pancakes
Succulent slices of aromatic roast duck meat goes well with the crunchiness of the cucumber and carrot - it's one of my favourite dish

2# Double-boiled assorted seafood soup with bamboo pith
Well seasoned, the nutritious soup tastes quite good - I love the scallops and bamboo pith the most

3# Steamed Patin fish with superior soya sauce
This is by far my favourite dish of all! The tender fish meat melts like butter in my mouth - yummilicious!^^

4# Li Yen's golden prawns
Featuring the infamous Pepper & Salt appearance by Quachee
What can I say, it's crunchy to the bite! And we had unlimited cups of fragrant chinese tea! ;)

5# Deep-fried spare ribs with thick vinegar sauce
6# Bean curd with Honshimeji mushrooms and spinach
The spare ribs were slightly tough and too sour for my liking whereas the bean curd and spinach got into my favourite dish list :)

7# Fried rice with diced duck meat
8# Double-boiled assorted nuts and snow fungus in sugar syrup
The fried rice was fragrant but I was too full therefore I had just a small portion of it and to my surprise, the dessert was served hot instead of the chilled version I normally have but it tasted good :P

The happy bunch. Can you identify who is who? ;)

Lovely group photo

Overall, I would say the food was good and the service given was top notch. I say so because not only did they serve us well, once the waitress noticed I was left-handed, she immediately rearranged the utensils for my convenience - that is what I say being attentive to the customer's needs. Kudos to her for noticing such little detail.

I thank both Panda Foongpc and The Ritz-Carlton KL for the valuable private dining experience. I look forward to have more dining opportunities with the hotel and its subsidiaries. Also, I hope to have more of such happy gatherings in the future with fellow bloggers that not only leaves sweet memories but strengthens our friendship too. Thank you for dropping by my blog and do have a beautiful day.

  4. Wah! All praises? Haha! OK the food is not bad. I love the Peking Duck and the Golden Prawns! Although we didn't really that whole duck did we? LOL!

Definitely good service too - a far cry from the what I experienced during that CNY dinner at the hotel. Looks like Ritz-Carlton had redeemed itself. And thanks to Steve for this offer!

Have yet to blog about this (so many posts lining up!) but you did a great review of this restaurant! : )

@Nikel Khor: Oh yes, it certainly is. :)

@missyblurkit: Haha...yes, it sure does. I'm glad that both sides can now smile broadly. ;)

@foongpc: Haha...true, I was wondering what happened to the rest of the duck! But I guess the best part is the skin and the meat underneath it which ended up in our stomachs that night. xP

@The Dead Cockroach: Haha...it does in a way looks like the Merlion. ;)

@Henry Tan: Blueek....it's already in my stomach. *Burp* Hehe!! xP
